Walnut and Treacle Bread
Ingredients
650g. Extra coarse brown flour
225g.Plain White flour
2 teasp. Bread soda (bicarbonate of soda)sieved
100g. Butter
¼ cup roughly chopped walnuts
½ cup Demerera sugar
1 litre Buttermilk
4 Eggs lightly beaten
1/2 cup Treacle (warmed slightly)
Method.
Mix all dry ingredients very well in a bowl.
Melt butter, mix with warm treacle and lightly beaten eggs
Add all liquid ingredients and mix very well to a very wet mixture.
Divide mixture into 4 x 9445g)1lb. well oiled bread tins.
Bake at gas 2 (150ºc) for 50mins -one hour approx.
