Food & Wine
Food and Wine are a big part of what our guests enjoy in Gougane Barra.
Katy takes responsibility for the food, and is really lucky to have a creative, hard -working kitchen team each season. We buy almost all of our food locally, the less distance it has to travel, the better it is for you and for us. We live in an unspoilt natural landscape with a large amount of small producers making great food products, which are a pleasure to cook with.Our menus are planned with the seasons and change according to what is available locally.
We are excited to have an organic herb garden since summer of 2014. We also have rhubarb, salad leaves and fruit bushes.
We are happy to plan special dietary requirements, please let us know ahead of your stay, to make your stay more enjoyable.
Neil developed an interest in wines when he was training in France and sources everything on our wine list, with care and attention. Working closely with our Wine Merchants, Le Caveau in Kilkenny, we have developed an interesting, fun, quirky and well-priced wine list which we hope you will enjoy. Neil and his team in the restaurant are happy to advise on matching a wine or local craft beer to compliment your dinner or recommending something bubbly for a special occasion or a vintage port to finish dinner.
