The hotel restaurant is blessed with an incredible view of the lake and St. Finbarr’s Oratory on the island, and, it is here that breakfast, evening dinner and Traditional Sunday Lunch is served, enjoying the ever changing light in the magical valley. The atmosphere is relaxed, the cooking is good, the wine list is fun, with attention to detail being held in great regard in an easy and professional manner.

Lunch Time

Day Time Food is served in the Hotel’s little bar and sitting rooms, and in the restaurant on request, give us a call and we are happy to oblige.
The bar menu is informal and a la carte. Choices from homemade pear and almond scones with jam and cream, chowder, Kenmare Bay Smoked Salmon and prawns with honey dressing, a warm free-range chicken salad with roast nuts, fresh fish dish of the day, Irish Stew, a minute steak, or Jane's dairy-free fragrant vegetable curry with coconut rice, the choice is interesting and varied. Home-baking is a big part of our family run hotel and all breads and desserts are freshly baked in the hotel kitchen.
If you would rather a full lunch in the restaurant (Monday-Saturday) this is also possible, depending on availability, if you give us a call, we can arrange it with you, depending on availability, for a special family occasion or private lunch party, for groups of 10 or more.

We enjoy cooking, and are lucky to have such a variety of local and artisan produce with zero air miles to cook with. Katy has a lot of recipes from her father’s kitchen in Lahinch, where her parents, Eamonn and Rita Vaughan owned Mr. Eamonn’s famous restaurant for many years. We are privileged to have a rosette for our food from the AA annually since 2006, and to be recommended by the Mc Kennas Guides and Georgina Campbell’s Ireland Guide and receive lots of treasured thank you cards from  happy guests very often, which is very encouraging and kind of them to take the time.

We also have an interesting wine list with many different old and new world choices all from small vineyards, advice is also available to help you choose a wine to compliment your food. We are pleased to help you plan a special dinner for a simple occasion or a monumental landmark occasion in Gougane Barra. Give us a call or send us an email and we will help you with the planning.
