Gougane Barra is a very special place, and until you make that journey you won’t realise just how special it is. Its’ magical lakeside location, in a valley surrounded by mountains, add to the "get away from it all factor", which is very strong here. The hotel is small and personal and there is a relaxed and informal atmosphere. We have been welcoming people to Gougane Barra for generations.






At Gougane Barra Hotel, Neil and Katy Lucey have taken over the day to day running of the hotel from Breda and Christy since 2005. Neil was reared in the family business and is the fifth generation of the Cronin/Lucey family who have welcomed and looked after people in their hotel down through the years.



Visitors to the Gougane Barra enjoy our hotel, relaxing with a drink in our bar or in our sitting rooms with a jam and cream scone and coffee, staying for a few nights, Lunch or candle- lit dinner in the restaurant overlooking the lake…. Whatever....Its for you..


Set amongst spectacular West Cork scenery, visitors to our hotel enjoy fishing in our naturally stocked brown trout lake with boats available to guests. We advise on the best walking, cycling, fishing and on the many places to visit in the area.
