The natural landscape of Gougane Barra and its surroundings makes this part of West Cork the perfect platform for outdoor activities and adventure. From kayaking in Loch Allua and rock climbing in the Derrynasaggart Mountains, to local hill walks and cycling trips you are bound to find the outdoor activity that suits you in the action packed fortnight in Gougane Barra. Edge Adventures are based in Cork and Kerry and provide experienced and qualified guides and instructors in adventure sports. They have come aboard here in Gougane Barra to offer kayaking courses for people of all skill levels in July.

We were delighted to have John Healy as our main guide for the two weeks. John knows the mountains from Gougane Barra to God knows where like the back of his hand and will be leading the hill walks and cycling trips. John’s previously been involved in ‘The Turas’ and well known as a ‘Mountaineer Extraordinaire’!
