About Us

Our fifth-generation family-run hotel is well known for its warm hospitable welcome, 

country house style food made from locally sourced ingredients, incredible team, personable service in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere at an heavenly address.

We are tucked away in a romantic, glaciated valley, surrounded by mountains in the south-west of Ireland. Gougane Barra Hotel is situated in a breath-taking position on the edge of Gougane Barra lake, right next to St Finbarr's island oratory where St. Finbarr founded his monastery in the sixth century.

Our family has been in the valley since 1850 and we are proud to continue the tradition of hospitality in our family.

We open seasonally from late March to early November each year.
